PostSubject: Easy tabulation for this forum?   Fri May 23, 2008 10:56 pm

I wonder if we can find a way to post that six holed tabulature on this forum.

I know that some simple flutes are pentatonic, but most are (I assume) going to be diatonic, and a large number of players will be Irish or English flute or whistle palyers.

Or maybe we can get that ABC or whatever music description system that a lot of people are using. I will look around and see what we can do.

I would love to see what mistakes I have made trying to figure out songs by ear.

I think there may be a way I can remove some of the "Emoticons" and replace them with my own flute icons.

That might be handy. sunny

So I have the first two registers and maybe a third by the end of the day. I will also be willing to post cross-fingerings and half-holings if you mention them to me.

I started using the actual notes, but then picked up my persimmon flute which has a fundamental note of A4 and realized my mistake.

They have all been renamed to "Doh Ray Mee" with odd spellings to avoid conflict with other emoticons.

The folks at http://www.chiffandfipple.com/ use the X = closed, O = open and D = half-hole method. Example: F on a "C" whistle would be XXXOOO (top/left-bottom/right). Easy enough?

Oh man... that's way TOO easy. Of course, I just finished a day long process of loading up the nice graphic versions...

One of the reasons I like simple flutes is that it counteracts the natural tendency I have to make everything more complicated than it needs to be.

I am the same, but I am changing in my old age. The more simplistic things are, the more elegant they become. Yes? "The Universe in a Grain of Sand" (William Blake)

Hey guys--have you seen the downloadable font for whistle tab? Ultra cool.
If you press the D key, it makes the six hole pic for a D fingering etc.
I found it at whistle and squeak website. I used it with my whistle ensemble at church for those not reading notes too well---pretty cool---Hope you enjoy! Jaybee

I've seen that, they also have one for ocarina. I use them for printing out stuff for my son to play. He's learning to play a lot faster than he's learning music....
